Pizza Sprouts Recipe
Part Pizza, Part Brussels Sprouts, All Awesomeness
This is super fast and easy Brussels sprouts recipe that will make this coniferous vegetable go from boring to exciting for the entire family. I developed this recipe after being challenged by Shakey’s Pizza on Twitter for a pizza inspired recipe. This was my response to them. This recipe is really easy to prepare. I made it in under 20 minutes. As for health benefits, well at least you are getting leafy green veggies in your diet. 😉

Pizza Sprouts Recipe Cut Brussels Sprouts in Half
Ingredients
1 slice bacon
2 Cups Melissa’s Produce Brussels sprouts (halved)
1 Clove garlic (minced)
1/2 Cup red onion (thick sliced)
1/2 Cup pasta sauce (store bought or make your own)
1 Cup jack and cheddar cheese blend
1 Large egg (per serving)
Instructions
Step 1 -In large pan, cook bacon to crisp. Chop cooked bacon into small pieces and set aside.

Step 1 – Render the bacon to crisp
Step 2 – In the same pan, add garlic and Brussels sprouts to the rendered bacon fat.

Step 2 – Roast the Brussels sprouts in the rendered bacon fat and garlic
Step 3 – Turn heat to medium-high and cook covered until Brussels sprouts are bright green and at least one side is charred
Add chopped onions and continue cooking covered for 3-5 minutes

Step 3 – Char the Brussels Sprouts and add onion
Step 4 – Place Brussels sprouts on aluminum foil and cover with pasta sauce. Cover each Brussels sprout with pizza sauce, using a spoon to ensure even coverage.

Step 4 – Place sprouts on foil and add pizza sauce
Step 5 – Add cheese evenly across the sprouts and top with bacon

Step 5 – Cover with cheese and bacon bits
Step 6 – Place in toaster oven on broil for 5-10 minutes, or until cheese is melted and starting to harden

Broil on high
Step 7 – Plate pizza sprouts on plate. Per platted portion, add fried egg cooked over easy

Served Pizza Sprouts with fried egg over easy
