Great news for fans of Bruxie waffle sandwiches! If you are like me you got very excited when Bruxie began to expand its stores from their original location in Old Town Orange. Today there are locations all over Orange County. For anyone who lives in the Irvine / Tustin neighborhood, your only options for enjoying a Bruxie waffle sandwich was trekking out to Orange, Rancho Santa Margarita or the location that recently opened up in Huntington Beach. The team at Bruxie continues their takeover of the Orange County with the opening of their newest location in Irvine , at the Heritage Plaza Center. This center is located at the intersection of Culver /Walnut.

What is Bruxie?
If you are not familiar with the concept, the specialize in both sweet and savory gourmet waffle sandwiches. My favorite savory creation is called “Green Eggs and Ham”, which is made with grilled ham, Tillamook cheddar, jumbo egg, mayo & arugula pesto. It is so good! On the sweet side on like the “Lemon Cream and Berries” , which is made with lemon cream and seasonal berries. The newest item I see on the menu is Ogura Bruxie made with sweet red bean and sweet cream. Their other claim to fame is their soft serve frozen custard., which is totally awesome by its self, but also good as a sundae.

Below is an excerpt from their press release:
Orange County, CA (July 2013) – Bruxie has announced that it will open its sixth unique eatery in Southern California in Irvine on August 6, 2013. The restaurant, which focuses on a menu of more than a dozen savory and sweet gourmet waffle sandwich offerings, is located at Culver and Walnut (14376 Culver Drive, Irvine) at the Heritage Plaza Center. The development of this location will continue Bruxie’s deliberate growth in the last 2 ½ years, and Chefs, Partners and Concept Creators, Dean Simon and Kelly Mullarney are also focused on strengthening their brand by making facility improvements at its original location, which they opened in 2010 in Old Towne Orange. Since opening, the Orange location grew to include a restroom, which it never had in its 61 years as a Dairy Treet prior to Bruxie’s arrival, and in June 2013, it will grow to include a larger covered outdoor dining space for guests.Similarly, at its fifth, and most recent location, at The Strand on 5th in Huntington Beach, Bruxie made its shakes, floats, desserts and beverages more accessible to guests with the introduction of the first “Bruxie Streetside” walk-up window, which will be carried on to future locations that have increased foot traffic.
“We opened our first location with confidence in our concept, but we had no idea the sensation that Bruxie would become, so we are continually looking for ways to better serve our guests,” explained Dean Simon, Managing Partner of Bruxie. “From the lines at our restaurants, the great social media following, incredible Yelp reviews, and national media attention, we know we have started something truly noteworthy and are on our way to building a strong brand.”
All Bruxie locations, including the next in Irvine, feature indoor and outdoor seating. The menus offer Bruxie’s unique takes on authentic Belgian waffles, as well as salads, locally produced old-fashioned cane sugar sodas, real Wisconsin frozen custard, shakes, sundaes and floats. Bruxie proudly serves Peet’s Coffee & Tea products, and nothing on the menu exceeds $10.
“Bruxie prides itself on truly unique offerings. We have gained a reputation for our waffle, which is crispy, light, and yeasty,” added Simon. “We are also known for pure cane sugar fountain sodas and real Wisconsin frozen custard, the base of our shakes, floats and desserts.”
Bruxie Irvine is set to open in July 2013 and will be located at 14376 Culver Drive (at Culver and Walnut) at the Heritage Plaza Center. All Bruxie locations are open daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert.
Bruxie is a new take on The Sandwich, using a creative version of an authentic Belgian Waffle as the bread. The waffle is light, airy, crispy, yeasty and not sweet. Bruxie Waffles are paired with quality seasonal ingredients, offering both Savory choices like Buttermilk Fried Chicken, Prosciutto & Gruyere, and Hot Pastrami, as well as a variety of Sweet options such as our Seasonal Crème Brulee, Nutella & Banana and S’Mores. Each location also features a variety of daily specials, such as the Carolina BBQ Pulled Pork, Braised Beef Short Rib and Philly Cheesesteak Bruxie. All specials by location can be found on Bruxie’s website. The public may follow Bruxie on Facebook and Twitter for updates on specials and promotions.
