Hatch Chile Roasting Event
Hatch chiles are best when roasted and many folks buy a case of hatch chiles, have them roasted at the store and then freeze them until ready to eat. The chile is extremely versatile in cooking. I even use them raw in my recipes.

Thanks for the info – love, love, love roasted chilis!
We have super markets here in Arizona targeted for Hispanic People and the have this kind of roasters.
I do buy those roasted peppers there.
I have never tried hatch roasted chile’s (is that the correct way to call them) but they look really delicious! I bet they would go perfectly with a bbq!
Wow, you’re obsessed with Hatch Chiles and I never heard of them. I’m in a city that borders Mexico with a large Hispanic population. Foodie that I am, I can’t believe I’ve been missing out on these. Thanks for the tip,Tomsfoodieblog!
Delicious chiles and I think that any chile would go with any dish if serve right.
Great info! I will share this with a friend, he actually sell on market..
That’s a lot of heat. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for reminding me it’s that time of year!
This is one of my favorite foods and time of year! I even blanch and freeze them.
What great images to go along with the ever loved hatched green chiles Tom!
I have never heard of hatched chiles, I will have to see if there is anyplace around here that sells them and give them a try.
I wish I was closer – I love California and can’t wait to revisit (not JUST for the food!)
Is there any green chile roasting dates scheduled for 2015?!?! I come from NM and live in SOCAL now. I can’t find any decent green chile! Please let me know!!! Feel free to email me too!!!
Thank you!!
Hi Darlene,
The hatch roasting schedule will not come up until late July in Southern California. If you get hard up, there is always frozen stock available at Bristol Farms, but even that is based on what is left in stock. When the roasting comes this year, you will have to stock up. Although SoCal is home to some really great chiles that may have to substitute. They come into season between May-July.
Thanks for your quick response! I’ll check back in late July and get the dates! I’m so excited! I’ve been using Anaheim peppers but unfortunately they aren’t spicy! I need some NM spice.
Thanks again!
