What Do Celebrities Eat at Golden Globe After Parties? An Catering by Crustacean Makes Mouths Water at Harvey Weinstein’s Golden Globes Party
15 Jan
I recently was in communication with the folks from Crustacean about their recent catering event at Harvey Weinstein’s Golden Globe after party. Their catering company, An Catering, provided some interesting dishes like garlic noodles, gluten free wasabi rice cakes, braised port wine short ribs, Dover sole in a ginger miso sauce, roasted beet salad with goat cheese panna cotta and stuffed chicken with shitake mushrooms, leeks and carrot, and “Dragon Breath” cookies. Apparently Leonardo Dicaprio loved the food.
I am a hug fan of learning about the food that is served at major events like award show after parties, back stage menus at rock concerts and even the White House State dinner menus. It looks like the House of An group did a great job pleasing the celebrities. I will be checking out another one of their restaurants in the next couple months AnQi Gourmet Bistro & Noodle Bar at South Coast Plaza. I am curious if their scaled back shopping mall ventures lives up to the glitz of Crustacean Beverly Hills.

An Catering by Crustacean Makes Mouths Water at Harvey Weinstein’s Golden Globes Party
Crustacean’s “Secret Kitchen” attracted the appetites of Leonardo DiCaprio, Jon Voigt, and others at the Golden Globes this past weekend
LOS ANGELES – Celebrity chef, restaurant owner, and caterer to the stars, Helene An, lived up to her name this past weekend at the Golden Globes when her company, An Catering by Crustacean, tempted talented taste buds with its French-Asian fusion cuisine at the Weinstein Company’s VIP party. Quentin Tarantino, Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Jon Voigt were just several of the scores of actors, producers, and industry individuals in attendance that enjoyed An Catering’s exotic dishes. Guests dined on Crustacean’s famous garlic noodles, gluten free wasabi rice cakes, and “Dragon Breath” cookies, named after Mr. Harvey Weinstein himself (who was born in the year of the dragon), which are dipped in liquid nitrogen and allows eaters to playfully “breathe fire” after taking their first bite.
“Great food. Great restaurant. Great family,” proclaimed Jon Voigt after experiencing the meal.
“Darn, I love that restaurant,” Leonardo DiCaprio lamented after missing the garlic noodles from Crustacean Beverly Hills.
The exquisite menu included passed amuse-bouche, the “Tiato” Herb Garden station, the “Secret Kitchen” station, and a large buffet. Small bites included black tea crusted tamarind baby lamb chops and tuna sashimi on crispy rice cakes, among others. At the “Tiato” Herb Garden station (named after the An family’s newest restaurant concept) every dish used An Catering’s famous “Tiato” herb, from the “Dragon Breath” cookie to the Vietnamese “Banh Mi,” a chicken slider infused with Tiato lemongrass, pickled vegetables, and chili aioli.
The sought after garlic noodles came from An Catering’s “Secret Kitchen,” while guests perusing the buffet line could choose from a number of delicious entrees, including braised port wine short ribs, Dover sole in a ginger miso sauce, roasted beet salad with goat cheese panna cotta and stuffed chicken with shitake mushrooms, leeks and carrots.
The party was held adjacent to, but not on Beverly Hilton grounds, in a tent in the Trader Vic’s parking lot. This allowed Weinstein, a close friend of the An family, to utilize one of his favorite restaurants for the catering while ensuring that he and his guests could enjoy An’s delicious foods.
Weinstein may want consider soliciting An Catering again next year, if not just for their food, but their luck as well; his company took home three Golden Globe awards including Best Screenplay for Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained while Christoph Waltz’s took home Best Supporting Actor for the same film. Jennifer Lawrence of Weinstein’s “Silver Linings Playbook” won Best Actress in a motion picture musical or comedy.
