_ARCFood_FirstPics_28One of the more widely anticipated restaurant/bar openings in Orange County is ARC in the South Coast Collection center in Costa Mesa. The restaurant is set to open on February 8th (Friday) and will be offering Lunch, Dinner, and a late-night menu. The ARC will be focus on from scratch cooking and cocktails made from locally sourced fresh ingredients.  The restaurant will feature an open kitchen in a 2,000-square-foot location, 30 booth seats, 15 barstools indoors and will grow to feature two perimeter patios, a 20-guest front social patio and a 10-guest seated back patio.

The restaurant will focus on home made foods using only locally sourced fresh ingredients and artisan-crafted products that deliver original flavors . The result is, “hearty, rustic, oven-to-table food made for sharing, complemented by fresh, innovative cocktails.” The following items will be featured on the menu.

  • Meatballs with garlic and whiskey, served with toast
  • Hearty chicken casserole with broccoli and cheddar
  • Steak and potatoes with citrus and cream.

This is going to be a Chef centric restaurant as they will add a little bit of mystery to the menu. For example, the press release states, “the menu incorporates a bit of mystery with dishes such as the vegetarian option, which is simply described as being made from/with farm, fire, and love; as well as pig with black beans, maple and herbs, which does not specify the part of the animal featured.” Don’t be afraid, Chef/Partner Noah Blom is a culinary veteran with experience at top restaurants in New York, San Francisco and even the Shuck in the OC Mix. I am excited to see what he can pull off in this type of venue.

The bar will feature a craft cocktails that that will utilize fresh produce and artisinal products.  These cocktails will be made with love and quality ingredients, “our libations recall a simpler era when the sip replaced the slurp…Our Bar Chef Koire Rogers is focused on a classically crafted atmosphere that echoes our kitchen with a scratch bar where bitters, infusions, syrups and sodas are all made in house.”
